CorelDRAW! is the top-selling graphics software package
available today. This feature-packed program makes computer
artwork and design accessible to all. Take a quantum leap
in the production process and learn CorelDRAW! Lecture-demo
and hands-on practice of the basics: menu commands and
drawing tools, special effects, import and transform clip-art
and scanned images, putting it all together in the printed piece.
Students can choose versions 5 through 8.

bring together the design elements, and learn the basics

Artists and graphic designers can work hand in hand with programmers
to create beautiful and exciting WEB pages. A knowledge of HTML is
not necessary to create graphics for the Web, but it is necessary to
know the limitations of the medium and what is possible.
Topics include:
• Exporting vector graphics and bitmaps as GIFs
and transparent GIFs
• Eliminating jaggies in bitmaps
• Creating graphics which appear quickly on the
screen
• Reducing components of your graphics so they look
good on any browser
• Placing the graphics and text on the page for
maximum readablility
• Arranging text to compliment graphics
• Software helpers which increase productivity

Corel PhotoPaint is the digital illustration software which
comes in the CorelDRAW! package. The latest versions of PhotoPaint
compare well to other illustration programs on the market.
This class is designed for CorelDRAW! owners who are desktop
publishers on the PC platform or those who want to use PhotoPaint
for scanning and photo retouching, digital art and illustration,
special effects, using layers and creating graphics for the web.
Corel DRAW! vector graphics will be imported into PhotoPaint
and manipulated as bitmaps and students will also work with
original art and scanned images. This class is lecture-demonstration.
Each student will be working on a Pentium and CorelDRAW!
versions 5 thru 8 will be available. Students are given
private instruction in the California Bay Area and online

You can develop the skills necessary to use the Adobe PageMaker
software package for producing a simple publication in this
hands-on class. Versions 5 through 6.5 can be accomodated.
The class includes page layout options, menu options, type
specifications, text and graphic placement, as well
as hints and shortcuts Although this class is designed for
beginners in desktop publishing, basic familiarity with word
processing and graphic applications is recommended,

the program, this class gives the opportunity to increase depth

Adobe Photoshop is a great art production tool, giving power to merge
and edit images precisely or to retouch scans. Create original or
composite art work, collages, or photo montages and use filters for color
correction and special effects. This is a beginning class which presents
the basics of the software program. Useful for artists, desk top publishers
and Web page designers.
Corel PhotoPaint is available for those using Corel software

Ani Weaver, MA
is the owner of WIZ ELECTRONIC PUBLISHING,
a full-service graphic design, desktop publishing and website
development firm. She is a credentialed art teacher, has taught
in the Computer and Information Sciences Department at SRJC, and
is a consultant in web page design for the Gifted and Talented
Education Program, Santa Rosa City Schools. Ani has had 30 years
experience in teaching and the graphic arts and specializes in
desktop publishing for educators and business professionals.
As a licensed MFCC, she uses art in the therapeutic process.
